For Sale: Norton Water Stones

I'm moving on to diamond plates for my sharpening.

I'm selling the following items at approximately 50% of retail. All stones are flat on both face surfaces.

Norton 1000 grit, 3/4" thick, $20
Norton 8000 grit, 7/8" thick, $45
Norton 220 grit, 1" thick, $10
Artificial Nagura Stone, $5

And I'll include a lidded Rubbermaid storage container that I used to store the stones in.

WANTED: drill stand

I have need of a benchtop drill press with a clutch attachment.

Since this animal doesn't really exist outside of specialty equipment, what I really need is a drill stand.

This is a device into which you would attach a regular corded (or cordless) drill that can then be raised or lowered with a lever the same as a drill press would.

I know that there are various types out there and have seen the ones offered at Lee Valley. I need one that has a solid base like in this photo:

Kiln Dried Wood

I am about to buy some Cherry and Black Walnut from a fellow out of town and having it kiln dried (solar kiln).

If you would like some, please connect with me. I may be able to bring it into town.

The Cherry is approx. $3 per board foot, any thickness. There is some Maple too. It is between $1 and $1.5 per board foot.
Kiln drying is $50 per 100 board feet. Anything over 2 inches thick will take 2 months to dry.

Don't recall the price of the walnut, but it is well under the prices in the city.

The WoodSource (Adams and Kennedy) established in 1953, dedicated to the supply of top

quality wood products at competitive prices by knowledgeable and helpful staff is now

accepting applications and referrals for a Part Time Sales Representative.

Responsibilities Include:

Sales Desk: process sales requests using the correct computer basedidentification/codes/costs/etc. Handle cash/credit/debit.
Customer Assistance: respond to all customer requests in person/via telephone/email/etc. in a knowledgeable, polite and curious manor. Develop a positive ongoingrelationship with customers.
In Store Maintenance: identify wood species, calculate quantity and retail sales cost,mark appropriately, store safely in the proper location.
Perform all related tasks as requested by management.

Qualifications:

Incumbent must have a good general knowledge of wood and the constructionindustry.
Retail sales experience is a definite asset.
Self-starter with time management and organizational skills is also required.
Possess good oral and written communication skills (bilingualism is a definite asset).
Have the ability to close sales and handle a variety of situations encountered duringthe sales process.

Work Hours:

Saturdays 8am-12Noon
Monday and Friday 10am-5pm (May-September)
Additional days to cover staff on Holiday

Remuneration:

Starting wage $12.00 to $15.00 per hour depending on experience.

Church Pews Available

Our church is thinking of getting rid of some of our pews so we have space for chairs and musicians for some of our special events. It seems to us that there would be a use for pews either as seating for public events or as a source of wood for tables and other carpentry projects. The pews are about 20ft long and very heavy of course. The wood seems to be oak laminated in strips to form backs and seats and sides.
